ABOUT EAST ANTRIM VAPOUR BLASTERS
Carburrettors

Modern fuels are hygroscopic, that is – they absorb water from the atmosphere. With the E10 (ethanol) additive your carburettors have to handle a toxic mixture. This can result, after even a short layup, of rough running on small throttle openings. Carburettors will be stripped back to their aluminium core and ultra sonically cleaned. The exterior will then be vapour blasted to leave an as new finish. Any defects in the carburettor will noted in the accompanying report. Carburettors can be accepted complete at extra charge or stripped (see price list). If stripped bring the jets and other brass or alloy fittings and we will ultrasonically clean them separately at no extra charge.

Ultrasonic Cleaning

During Ultrasonic cleaning the carburettor body is immersed in a water / mild specialist detergent mixture for a time, and at a temperature, which removes deposits from the internal passageways of the carburettor. There is no other way of achieving this. It works by cavitation. Tiny bubbles are generated between the deposits and the alloy surface which gentle removes them without damage to the carburettor body.

Vapour Blasting

Vapour blasting is a low pressure system for cleaning aluminium without damage. It is suitable for cleaning gasket surfaces. Typically a mixture of 10% glass bead and 90% water, it runs at a similar pressure to a domestic mains water system. The glass bead is 70 microns. It is not suitable for removing paint or anodising. The cases are cleaned inside and out. Aside from the aesthetics it is much easier to ensure that all traces of the medium are rinsed after cleaning.

East Antrim Vapour Blasting Cleaning

Vapour blasting uses a fine glass bead, typically 70 microns, suspended in water at a ration of 1 part bead to 9 parts water. This slurry is accelerated by compressed air to provide a gentle, but thorough, cleaning, leaving a satin finish which is much easier to keep clean than with other media. It will not peen the metal as dry glass bead will, nor will it imbed the medium in the cleaned surface.

Carburrettors And Ultrasonic Cleaning

Carburrettors and Ultrasonic Cleaning, Carburettors are stripped back to their aluminium carcase and ultrasonically cleaned. In this method, using cavitation, a series of tiny bubbles are formed on the surface to be cleaned – forcing contaminant away from the surface. Again, this is an exceptionally gentle process and the only way to clean the airways and internal structures of the carb.

All carburettors will be ultrasonically cleaned, to clean internally, and vapour blasted to bring the outside to a new finish. Carbs should be stripped and the jets and brass fittings will be cleaned seperately. Carbs not stripped will incur a further charge of £10 per carb. Alloy mounting brackets and fittings can be cleaned at the same time at no extra cost. If you are unsure please ring.
